Baseball Recap: Mount Dora Triumphs

After losing to Umatilla the last time they met, Mount Dora decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Mount Dora Hurricanes narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Umatilla Bulldogs 3-1.

Walker Bland looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Mount Dora saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aaron Fletcher, who scored a run while going 3-for-3. Fletcher also got three hits, marking his first of the season.

Mount Dora now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Umatilla, their record is now 4-3.

Coming up, Mount Dora will challenge Eustis at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Eustis will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something Mount Dora surely won't give up without a fight.
