Football Recap: Houghton Lake Falls to Central Montcalm in First Game of Season + How To Watch

Houghton Lake unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost 36-16 to the Central Montcalm Hornets on Thursday. If the Bobcats were looking for revenge after losing 55-26 to the Hornets when the teams met back in August of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

When it comes to explaining why Houghton Lake lost, don't look at Shawn Skocelas. Despite the final result, he rushed for eight yards and a pair of scores, and also threw for 168 yards while completing 73.7% of his passes.

Coming up, Houghton Lake will be playing in front of their home fans against Evart at 7:00 p.m. on the 5th. The contest will give the Bobcats their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Central Montcalm, they are taking a road trip to square off against Newaygo at 7:00 p.m. on the 5th.
