Basketball Recap: Guntersville Wildcats vs. Albertville Aggies
Guntersville lost against Albertville back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Guntersville Wildcats lost to the Albertville Aggies at home by a 62-47 margin. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 130th, while the Aggies are ranked 15th).
Lani Smallwood was her usual excellent self, going 14 of 21 en route to 34 points in addition to six steals and five boards for Albertville. Smallwood is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last ten games she's played. Another player making a difference was Mylie Butler, who posted six points along with five rebounds and three steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Guntersville and nudges their season record down to 13-12. As for Albertville, they pushed their record up to 26-3 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road.
Guntersville didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 59-32 defeat against Scottsboro on the 1st. Albertville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
