Football Recap: Owensboro Catholic Takes Down Somerset in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, Owensboro Catholic rose to the challenge on Friday. They came out on top against the Somerset Briar Jumpers by a score of 27-19. The victory was nothing new for the Aces as they're now sitting on nine straight.

Miles Edge had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 153 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.6 yards per carry. His longest rush was for an incredible 76 yards. Another player making a difference was Dre'Mail Carothers, who threw for 178 yards and one TD.

Owensboro Catholic didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jude Cecil and Nick Sims.

Owensboro Catholic's win bumped their record up to 12-1. As for Somerset, with the defeat, they broke their 11-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-2.

Looking ahead, Owensboro Catholic will face off against Beechwood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Aces will need to watch out since the Tigers have now posted at least 31 points in their last seven games. Somerset does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
