Basketball Game Preview: Stafford Indians vs. North Stafford Wolverines

Stafford is 1-9 against North Stafford since December of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Stafford Indians will be playing in front of their home fans against the North Stafford Wolverines at 5:00 p.m. Stafford is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.

Stafford is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Hylton: they outscored them in every quarter. Stafford strolled past Hylton with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 61-43.

Stafford's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Olivia Ferguson, who almost dropped a triple-double on 11 points, nine boards, and nine steals. Ferguson has become a key player for Stafford: the team is 9-3 when she posts at least five steals, but 1-2 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Annalise Mcconnell, who went 6 for 11 on her way to 16 points.

Stafford was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hylton only posted nine assists.

Meanwhile, North Stafford was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They had to suffer through a 67-22 loss at the hands of Riverbend. The Wolverines were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-14.

North Stafford's defeat dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Stafford, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.

Stafford was dealt a bruising 61-14 loss at the hands of North Stafford in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Stafford was down 31-5.
