Basketball Recap: Cobden Comes Up Short

Cobden came up into this matchup off a tough 29-point defeat last Saturday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Zeigler-Royalton Tornadoes by a score of 43-40 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Appleknockers have suffered since January 29, 2024.

Leading Zeigler-Royalton to victory were River Freeman and Lucas Rogers. Freeman went 9 for 16 on his way to 22 points and seven rebounds, while Rogers almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine boards. Freeman is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 17 or more in the last four games he's played.

Cobden has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. As for Zeigler-Royalton, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-9.

Cobden will be playing in front of their home fans against Agape Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Zeigler-Royalton, they will venture away from home to take on Thompsonville at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
