Baseball Recap: Mount Vernon Comes Up Short

If Mount Vernon was feeling good fresh off their 19-0 takedown of Annandale on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Majors lost 11-1 to the West Potomac Wolverines on Wednesday. The Majors were not able to make up for their loss to the Wolverines from their previous meeting back in May of 2023.

Mount Vernon saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jordyn Summers, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. Summers has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times he's played.

Mount Vernon has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season. As for West Potomac, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-2.

Coming up, Mount Vernon will challenge Edison at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for West Potomac, they will square off against Fairfax at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
