Baseball Recap: Hollis-Brookline Comes Up Short in High-Profile Game with Souhegan

Hollis-Brookline faced Souhegan in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Cavaliers fell just short of the Sabers by a score of 3-2. The Cavaliers have struggled against the Sabers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Tyler Gryniewicz was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Renzo Bergskaug, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Hollis-Brookline's loss dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Souhegan, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 10-1.

Coming up, Hollis-Brookline will head out to square off against Laconia at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cavaliers are facing the Sachems at the right time seeing as the Sachems are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Souhegan, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against ConVal at 4:30 p.m.
