Basketball Recap: Stockton Takes a Loss

If Stockton was riding high fresh off their 55-14 takedown of Thunder Ridge on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Stockton Tigers fell 49-42 to the Rock Hills Grizzlies on Saturday. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Grizzlies apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

It was another big night for Bethany Simmelink, who went 7 of 17 en route to 25 points for Rock Hills. Simmelink is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 23 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Halle Mizner, who posted seven points and eight rebounds.

Stockton's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Rock Hills, they pushed their record up to 4-0 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Stockton will welcome Lakeside on Friday. Rock Hills will take on Logan/Palco in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
