Basketball Recap: Farmington Farmers vs. Lewistown Indians
Farmington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat. They took a 45-30 bruising from the Lewistown Indians. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Indians this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 40-21 back in November of 2024.
Despite the loss, Farmington had strong showings from Molly Zaborac, who posted eight points, and Paige Stevens, who earned seven points. That's the most points Stevens has posted since back in December of 2024.
Lewistown's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Abby Wiegand, who had 11 points in addition to seven rebounds and six steals. Wiegand is becoming a predictor of Lewistown's success: when she posts at least five steals the team is 3-1 (and 9-16 when she doesn't). Another player making a difference was Carsyn Braun, who scored seven points and five steals.
Farmington's defeat dropped their record down to 6-23. As for Lewistown, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-17 record this season.
Farmington wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 51-28 loss against Illini Bluffs on the 12th. As for Lewistown, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 75-29 win against West Prairie on the 13th.
