Baseball Recap: Hawthorne Takes a Loss

Hawthorne lost against Leuzinger back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Cougars came up short against the Olympians, falling 17-4. The Cougars' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

Jose Ruelas and David Duran did some serious damage despite the final result: Ruelas got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run, while Duran got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Joaquin Arana, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Hawthorne's loss dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Leuzinger, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.

While Hawthorne had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
