Preview: Tyngsborough Tigers vs. Gardner Wildcats

Tyngsborough is on a six-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Gardner is on a four-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Tyngsborough Tigers will take on the Gardner Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Last Friday, Tyngsborough never let their opponents score. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Dracut 42-0 at home. Tyngsborough's offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.

It was another big night for Bryce Goulet, who threw for 143 yards and four touchdowns while completing 87.5% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Joe Nicosia, who picked up 115 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

Meanwhile, even though Narragansett Regional scored an imposing 31 points on Friday, Gardner still came out on top. Everything went Gardner's way against Narragansett Regional as Gardner made off with a 52-31 victory.

Alexavier Figueroa went supernova for Gardner, rushing for 98 yards and four touchdowns on only 11 carries, while also throwing for 171 yards and a touchdown while completing 73.3% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Ayden Sparrow, who rushed for 84 yards and a touchdown.

Their wins bumped Tyngsborough to 6-2 and Gardner to 8-0.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: Tyngsborough has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 212.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Gardner struggles in that department as they've been averaging 199.2 per game. It's looking like Friday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.

Everything came up roses for Tyngsborough against Gardner in their previous matchup back in September of 2018 as the team secured a 37-8 win. Does Tyngsborough have another victory up their sleeve, or will Gardner turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
