Volleyball Recap: Monday's Loss Ends Smithville's Winning Streak

It was a good run, but Smithville unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-match winning streak on Monday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. Pius X. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Smithville of the 3-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Smithville was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made St. Pius X work for it, especially in the fourth set. The final score came out to 25-13, 14-25, 25-21, 27-25.

Jaycee Tyrrell paced Smithville's offense, picking up 14 kills. Tyrrell got some help from Lexie Seifert and her 18 assists. Tyrrell was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Smithville's loss dropped their record down to 12-3. As for St. Pius X, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-9-1.

Smithville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Raytown South on the 23rd. As for St. Pius X, they have also already played their next matchup, a 3-2 defeat against Pleasant Hill on the 23rd.
