Football Recap: Make It Four in a Row for West Jefferson

West Jefferson had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 34-32 victory over the Fort Frye Cadets on Friday. The win was familiar territory for the Roughriders, who have now won four games in a row.

West Jefferson's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Austin Buescher led the charge by throwing for 380 yards and four TDs while completing 71.1% of his passes. That's the most passing touchdowns Buescher has posted since back in September. Blake Bogenrife helped Buescher out on the ground, picking up 129 receiving yards and a pair of scores, while also punching in one rushing score.

When it comes to explaining why Fort Frye lost, don't look at Tyce Beardsley. Despite the final result, he rushed for 123 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries. Beardsley's longest rush was for an impressive 60 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Fort Frye also got a significant boost from Gavin Rauch, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 95 yards.

West Jefferson's victory bumped their record up to 11-1. As for Fort Frye, their defeat ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-2.

West Jefferson has already played their next contest, a 35-7 loss against Colonel Crawford on the 21st. Fort Frye does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
