Soccer Game Preview: Hickory vs. Slippery Rock

The Hickory Hornets will face off against the Slippery Rock Rockets at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

On Monday, Hickory came up short against Wilmington and fell 4-2. Hickory have struggled against Wilmington recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Slippery Rock's game on Monday was all tied up 0-0 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell 2-0 to Grove City. While losing is never fun, Slippery Rock can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania soccer rankings (they are ranked 303rd, while Grove City are ranked 107th).

Hickory's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Slippery Rock, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Hickory was able to grind out a solid victory over Slippery Rock in their previous meeting back in September, winning 2-0. Do the Hornets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rockets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
