Baseball Recap: Shiprock Comes Up Short

Shiprock was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They came up short against the Gallup Bengals, falling 18-3. The Chieftains were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bengals apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Shiprock saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyson Clark, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Shiprock's defeat dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Gallup, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-13.

Looking ahead, Shiprock will square off against Miyamura at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Chieftains' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 6.1 runs per game this season. As for Gallup, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Aztec at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
