Baseball Recap: Briarfield Academy Takes a Loss

Briarfield Academy and Wilkinson County Christian Academy squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Briarfield Academy had to settle for second. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rams. The Rebels' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Brock Johnson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jackson Thornton was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Briarfield Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Wilkinson County Christian Academy, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-10.

As of now, neither Briarfield Academy nor the Rams have any future games scheduled.
