If Fort Payne was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Clay-Chalkville on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wildcats took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hartselle Tigers on Thursday. The Wildcats' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Fort Payne came incredibly close to winning: the sets they lost were decided by three points or less. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-23, 18-25, 25-22.

Lydie Varnadore paced Fort Payne's offense, picking up 19 kills. Varnadore got some help from Ally Chadwick and her 15 assists. Carley Cash controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Among those leading the charge was Taylor Reaviel, who had 16 digs. That's the most digs she has posted over her last seven matches. Another player making a difference was Lauren Burroughs, who had ten digs and one assist.

Fort Payne's defeat dropped their record down to 42-14. As for Hartselle, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 26 of their last 28 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 47-12 record this season.

Fort Payne does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hartselle, they have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Hazel Green on the 24th.
