Baseball Recap: Modesto Comes Up Short

Modesto extended their losing streak to 17 on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 1-18-1 in the process. They fell 6-1 to the Enochs Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, with their most recent loss being a 10-0 defeat on Wednesday.

Modesto saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anthony Arrieta, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that Arrieta has launched this season.

As for Enochs, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-9. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games.

On Enochs' side, Caden Reeve and Tanner McCain made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Reeve pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, McCain struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. At bat, Reeve went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while McCain went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bryan Delgado, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Jack Thorning was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Coming up, Modesto will take on Beyer in a tournament on Monday. As for Enochs, they will be taking part in a tournament against Patterson at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
