Baseball Game Preview: Somerset Academy South Homestead Hurricanes vs. Downtown Doral Dolphins

On Thursday, Somerset Academy South Homestead didn't have quite enough to beat Riviera Prep and fell 6-5.

Meanwhile, Downtown Doral got the win against Hialeah-Miami Lakes on Thursday by a conclusive 10-4. Considering the Dolphins have won five matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Fernando Quinones and Madden Perez were a major factor no matter where they played. Throwing, Quinones pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Perez tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. At bat, Quinones scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Perez went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Quinones has become a key player for Downtown Doral: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-4 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ignacio Rivera, who scored a run and stole Four bases.

The win got Downtown Doral back to even at 5-5. As for Somerset Academy South Homestead, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.
