Baseball Game Preview: Franklin Central Flashes vs. Center Grove Trojans

The Franklin Central Flashes will square off against the Center Grove Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Franklin Central is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They never let Decatur Central get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory. The Flashes not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since April 7th (when they won 16-0).

The team relied heavily on Anthony Santellana, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Kyle Piersall was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Franklin Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .536. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Decatur Central only posted an OBP of .211.

Meanwhile, Center Grove waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They were the clear victors by a 9-0 margin over the Falcons. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 contests by six runs or more this season.

The win made it two in a row for Franklin Central and bumps their season record up to 7-19. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Center Grove, their record is now 24-4.

Franklin Central suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Center Grove in their previous meeting back in April of 2019. Can the Flashes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
