Soccer Game Preview: Hawthorne vs. Manchester Regional

The Hawthorne Bears will head out on the road to square off against the Manchester Regional Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Hawthorne's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for nine straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Hawthorne is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. They lost 5-1 to Cresskill on Monday. While losing is never fun, Hawthorne can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey soccer rankings (they are ranked 330th, while Cresskill are ranked 139th).

Meanwhile, after soaring to six goals the game before, Manchester Regional was a bit more limited in their match on Saturday. They came up short against Wayne Valley, falling 5-1. Manchester Regional have struggled against Wayne Valley recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Manchester Regional's loss dropped their record down to 9-3-1. As for Hawthorne, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-9.

Hawthorne suffered a grim 4-0 defeat to Manchester Regional when the teams last played back in September. Can the Bears avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
