Basketball Recap: Veritas Christian Academy Comes Up Short

Veritas Christian Academy was the 62-44 winner over Union Grove Christian when they last played one another back in November of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Veritas Christian Academy Warriors lost to the Union Grove Christian Patriots on the road by a 71-52 margin on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 442nd, while the Patriots are ranked 129th).

Colin Wykes continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Union Grove Christian, almost dropping a double-double on 19 points and nine assists. Calvin Miller was another key player, putting up 13 points and four steals.

Veritas Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Union Grove Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season.

Veritas Christian Academy will challenge Nebo Crossing Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Veritas Christian Academy is facing Nebo Crossing Academy at the right time seeing as Nebo Crossing Academy is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. Union Grove Christian has already played their next match, a 64-42 victory against Tabernacle Christian on the 20th.
