Football Recap: Mercer Island Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Mercer Island fell victim to Liberty and their airtight defense on Friday. They were outmatched by the Patriots and fell 49-0. While losing is never fun, the Islanders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington football rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while the Patriots are ranked 46th).

Luke Christofferson threw for 76 yards on eight of 12 attempts. Kainoa Brown was his top target, picking up 55 receiving yards.

Liberty got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Sutton Flint out in front who rushed for 66 yards and a pair of scores. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 51 yards. Liberty also got a significant boost from Marek Wright, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 85 yards.

Mercer Island now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Liberty, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.

Mercer Island didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 33-14 defeat against Hazen on the 26th. As for Liberty, they have also already played their next game, a 42-13 win against Juanita on the 26th.
