Baseball Game Preview: Wasilla Warriors vs. Dimond Lynx

The Wasilla Warriors will head out on the road to square off against the Dimond Lynx at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Wasilla's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three contests.

Wasilla is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: Houston, who was ranked 19th at the time (Wasilla was ranked fifth). The Warriors were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Hawks on Wednesday. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Hawks recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Camden Mette looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Wasilla let LaLo PaLomares and Aiden Perez run wild. Palomares went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and one double, while Perez went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI. Those two triples gave Palomares a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hunter Delcour, who earned three runs and two stolen bases.

Wasilla hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matches.

Dimond came out on top against Bettye Davis East Anchorage on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run third inning. The Lynx narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Thunderbirds 6-5. The victory was nothing new for the Lynx as they're now sitting on three straight.

Wasilla's record is now 13-4-1. As for Dimond, their record now sits at 6-4-1.

Wasilla might still be hurting after the 10-1 defeat they got from Dimond when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
