Manchester was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Newington work for it, especially in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 26-24, 23-25, 25-18.
Meanwhile, New Britain didn't have quite enough to beat St. Paul Catholic on Thursday and fell 3-2. While the Golden Hurricanes didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Falcons 25-18 in the first set.
New Britain actually scored more points across those five sets (99-93), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 18-25, 25-16, 25-23, 10-25, 15-10.
Manchester's defeat dropped their record down to 5-9. As for New Britain, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-10.
