Basketball Game Preview: Glynn Academy Terrors vs. Brunswick Pirates

Glynn Academy and Brunswick are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2021, but not for long. The Glynn Academy Terrors will be playing at home against the Brunswick Pirates at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Glynn Academy has now lost ten straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since December 21.

Glynn Academy is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Bradwell Institute on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Glynn Academy was beaten by Bradwell Institute 78-36. The Terrors were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-9.

Despite the loss, Glynn Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ahmad Mcintosh dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Mcintosh has been hot recently, having posted ten or more boards the last three times he's played.

Meanwhile, after a string of seven wins, Brunswick's good fortune finally ran out two weeks ago. They fell just short of Statesboro by a score of 53-50. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Pirates have suffered since January 3, 2024.

Glynn Academy will have to keep a close watch on Caleb Butler and Heze Kent, a pair of players who had a big impact on Brunswick's prior game. Butler posted 18 points, while Kent scored nine points and eight rebounds.

Brunswick's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 16-2. As for Glynn Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-21.

Glynn Academy was dealt a bruising 74-35 loss at the hands of Brunswick when the teams last played on January 10th. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Glynn Academy was down 42-17.
