Softball Recap: Coosa Christian Conquerors vs. Valley Head Tigers
Coosa Christian extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 3-13 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Valley Head Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-3 on Tuesday.
As for Valley Head, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-19-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games.
For Valley Head's part, Adleigh Lockett spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on two hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, Raegan Key was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 13 matches. Lexi Coffman was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Coosa Christian will square off against Albertville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Valley Head, they will challenge Collinsville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
