Softball Recap: Garrett Railroaders vs. Fremont Eagles
Garrett hadn't done well against Fremont recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Railroaders put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 15-9 victory. The Railroaders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by six runs or more this season.
Ashlee Vanderbosch made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up six earned (and three unearned) runs off ten hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Garrett got a massive performance out of Peyton Grindstaff, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Jayiden Feicht was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
Garrett always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .523. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fremont only posted an OBP of .378.
