Softball Game Preview: Lafayette Rams vs. New Kent Trojans

Lafayette is 0-10 against New Kent since May of 2018 but things could change on Friday. The Rams will welcome the Trojans at 4:30 p.m. Lafayette has given up an average of 22.3 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Lafayette is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 32nd straight game dating back to last season on Wednesday. They lost 29-4 to Bruton.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for New Kent, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They blew past Poquoson 11-1 on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won seven matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Kenley Rowe was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Tober, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

New Kent always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Poquoson only posted an OBP of .316.

New Kent pushed their record up to 7-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Lafayette, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-11.
