Preview: Patterson Institute Lions vs. Immanuel Christian Warriors
The Patterson Institute Lions will head out on the road to take on the Immanuel Christian Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Patterson Institute has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while Immanuel Christian will arrive with six straight victories.
Patterson Institute lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the loss they were handed on on Friday was a bit more commanding. They were beaten by Bowie 55-15. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Patterson Institute has suffered since November 16, 2023.
Meanwhile, Immanuel Christian stacked an 18th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Dallas Academy 94-19 at home. Immanuel Christian's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Immanuel Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jayson Chang out in front who went 6 for 7 from beyond the arc en route to 18 points and 3 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Chang has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Alam Canales, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds.
Patterson Institute's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-10. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 18.7 points per game. As for Immanuel Christian, their win bumped their record up to 21-6.
Patterson Institute might still be hurting after the 45-25 defeat they got from Immanuel Christian when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Can Patterson Institute avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
