Basketball Game Preview: St. Mary's Saints vs. McDonogh Eagles

The St. Mary's Saints will challenge the McDonogh Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

St. Mary's not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since December 20, 2024 (when they won 71-32). They really took it to Indian Creek for the full four quarters, racking up an 82-53 victory. The win continues a trend for the Saints in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won three in a row.

Alexandra Vandiver went supernova, shooting 6-for-8 from deep and dropping a double-double with 32 points and ten rebounds. Those 32 points gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bailey Harris, who posted 22 points in addition to eight boards and five steals.

Meanwhile, McDonogh didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Prospect on Sunday, but they still walked away with a 46-40 victory.

McDonogh now has a winning record of 2-1. As for St. Mary's, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

St. Mary's couldn't quite finish off McDonogh in their previous meeting back in January and fell 53-51. Can the Saints avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
