Basketball Game Preview: Gulf Coast Sharks vs. Lely Trojans

Gulf Coast and Lely are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Gulf Coast Sharks will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Lely Trojans at 7:30 p.m. Gulf Coast knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matches -- so hopefully Lely likes a good challenge.

Gulf Coast took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They put the hurt on Lakewood Ranch with a sharp 78-53 win.

Meanwhile, Lely was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 72-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of Miami. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 384th, while the Stingarees are ranked 19th).

Gulf Coast's victory bumped their record up to 10-8. As for Lely, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-9.

Gulf Coast beat Lely 56-48 in their previous meeting on Tuesday. Does Gulf Coast have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lely turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
