It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Marion had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They walked away with a 50-41 win over the Whale Branch Warriors. Winning may never get old, but the Swamp Foxes sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Marion's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Maliyah Williams, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 13 boards. Williams has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Ayoni Malloy was another key player, going 5-for-12 on her way to 12 points and six steals.
Marion smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in six consecutive games.
Marion's victory bumped their record up to 17-10. As for Whale Branch, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-7.
Looking ahead, Marion will take on Chesterfield at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Whale Branch does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
