Softball Recap: Ralston Rams vs. Mercy Monarchs

Ralston won the last time they faced Mercy, and things went their way on Monday too. The Ralston Rams walked away with a 6-3 win over the Mercy Monarchs. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rams.

Makenzie Macrander made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Lucy Bodnar was incredible, going 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs, and a triple. Another player making a difference was Maddie Ochsner, who scored a run and stole four bases while going 1-for-4.

Ralston didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with 14 strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mercy only tossed three.

Ralston has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-10 record this season. As for Mercy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-20.

Ralston wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 9-0 loss against Blair on the 7th. Mercy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
