Baseball Game Preview: Hobart Brickies vs. Kankakee Valley Kougars

For the second straight game, Hobart will face off against Kankakee Valley. The Brickies will head out on the road to square off against the Kougars at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Hobart's hitters haven't had much luck over their past six games, but Tuesday's match will give them a chance to turn things around.

Hobart took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Kankakee Valley a 1-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Brickies in their matchups with the Kougars: they've now won six in a row.

Connor Stafford made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over 7.2 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Hobart is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-6 otherwise. Stafford was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. That stolen base was his first of the season.

The victory got Hobart back to even at 7-7. As for Kankakee Valley, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-5-1 record.
