Baseball Recap: Dirigo Finds Home Field Redemption Against Mountain Valley

There's no place like home for Dirigo, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the Mountain Valley Falcons 5-4. For the Cougars, this counts as revenge for the 7-4 win the Falcons walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Hudson Lufkin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits. He is becoming a predictor of Dirigo's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is undefeated (and 4-7 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kaeden Swan, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.

Dirigo's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-7. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Mountain Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.
