Basketball Recap: West Takes a Loss

After flying high against Frazier Mountain on Monday, West came back down to earth. The Vikings were outmatched by the Central Valley Christian Cavaliers and fell 82-42. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Vikings of the 77-54 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.

When it comes to explaining why West lost on Wednesday, don't look at Soloman Harris. Despite the final result, he went 9-for-21 to rack up 24 points and six steals. Harris has been hot recently, having posted four or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Christopher Rascoe, who posted six points.

It was another big night for Grant Hyde, who dropped a double-double with 20 points and 17 boards for Central Valley Christian. Those 17 rebounds gave Hyde a new career-high. Jayden Bergman was another key player, shooting 47% from the field en route to 20 points.

West's record now sits at 3-7. As for Central Valley Christian, the win keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

West has already played their next game, a 66-43 victory against Washington Union on the 11th. As for Central Valley Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 49-39 win against Lemoore on the 11th.
