Softball Recap: Southridge Falls to North Harrison in First Game of Season

Southridge unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the North Harrison Cougars by a score of 7-6 on Tuesday. The Raiders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Millie Hunter spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, Camryn Nalley was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Kenley Ferguson, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Southridge wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 9-2 victory against Crawford County on the 7th. As for North Harrison, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 8-7 win against New Albany on the 8th.
