Recap: Callaway Chargers vs. Warren Central Vikings
The Callaway Chargers had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They slipped by Warren Central 69-68. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Leading Callaway to victory were Braxton Ward and Javarian Mallard. Ward scored 25 points along with two steals, while Mallard scored 21 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Ward continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Derek Byrd, who scored four points along with 11 rebounds.
Callaway is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 14-12 record this season. As for Warren Central, their loss dropped their record down to 12-12.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Callaway will take on Columbus at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Warren Central, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Ridgeland at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. Hopefully Ridgeland focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 on Tuesday.
