Baseball Recap: Houston Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Houston, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They walked away with a 6-2 victory over the Hartville Eagles on Monday. The Tigers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Eagles, too.

Shaun Buck spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up seven Ks. He is becoming a predictor of Houston's success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is 4-2 (and 4-9 when he doesn't).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Caiden Root, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Ethan Carter, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Houston's record is now 8-11. As for Hartville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-8 record this season.

Houston will square off against Ellington at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hartville, they will venture away from home to square off against New Covenant Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
