Baseball Recap: St. Joseph Beats Trumbull for Their Third Straight Win

St. Joseph got themselves on the board against Trumbull on Wednesday, but Trumbull never followed suit. They walked away with a 3-0 win over the Eagles. The victory was familiar territory for the Cadets, who have now won three matches in a row.

The result came thanks to HT Jones's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up seven Ks. He also tossed two walks, which is notable because St. Joseph is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 5-6 otherwise.

At the plate, St. Joseph saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jake Rios, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Jake Failla was another, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run.

The win got St. Joseph back to even at 7-7. As for Trumbull, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-6.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. St. Joseph is set to challenge their familiar foe Westhill at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Trumbull will square off against rival Stamford at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Eagles 1.9, the Black Knights 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
