Basketball Recap: Xavier Linville Key Part of Team Effort in Falcons Win

Falcon won the last time they faced Coronado and things went their way on Saturday too. The Falcon Falcons blew past the Coronado Cougars 61-37. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 75th, while the Cougars are ranked 274th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Falcon's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Xavier Linville led the charge by putting up 11 points and eight boards. The dominant performance also gave Linville a new career-high in assists (four). Another player making a difference was Isaak Lane, who went 6-for-10 to rack up 12 points.

Falcon was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Coronado only posted five assists.

When it comes to explaining why Coronado lost, don't look at Omar Dubose. Despite the final result, he posted five points.

The victory made it two in a row for Falcon and bumps their season record up to 13-6. As for Coronado, they dropped their record down to 2-19 with the loss, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Falcon didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 76-41 win against Elizabeth on the 11th. As for Coronado, they will host Mesa Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Mesa Ridge will roll in looking for their 18th straight victory, something Coronado surely won't give up without a fight.
