Softball Game Preview: Genoa Area Comets vs. Otsego Knights

Genoa Area is 1-8 against Otsego since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Comets will be playing at home against the Knights at 4:30 p.m. Genoa Area has given up an average of 11.4 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

While Genoa Area's win against Fostoria wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Comets sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 16-15 victory over the Redmen on Friday. With that win, the Comets brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.

Mya Colvin was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. Emersen Bickel was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Genoa Area was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .421. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Oak Harbor hit Otsego with a four-run second inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Knights fell just short of the Rockets by a score of 9-8.

Genoa Area's victory ended a nine-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-13. As for Otsego, their loss dropped their record down to 12-7.
