Baseball Game Preview: Hempstead Tigers vs. Valley Stream Central Eagles

For the second straight game, Hempstead will face off against Valley Stream Central. The Tigers will take on the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.

Hempstead is leaving town to face Valley Stream Central after disappointing their home crowd in their season opener. The Tigers lost 11-1 to the Eagles on Friday. The Tigers have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

For Valley Stream Central's part, they let Julian Vera and Justin Owolabi run wild. Vera went a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases and two runs, while Owolabi got on base in three of his four plate appearances with five stolen bases and two runs. Those five stolen bases gave Owolabi a new career-high. Elijah Castillo also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Valley Stream Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher in six consecutive matchups.
