The Pembroke Dragons will square off against the Elba Lancers at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Pembroke barely beat Oakfield-Alabama the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Dragons never let the Hornets get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory on Thursday. The win was familiar territory for the Dragons, who have now won three games in a row.
Not much got past Brayden Lang, who gave up just four hits and racked up 16 Ks to keep Oakfield-Alabama off the board. Lang has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Anthony Abbatiello and Gavin Liss did most of the damage at the plate: Abbatiello went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double, while Liss went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Liss is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Owen Shultz was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Pembroke always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oakfield-Alabama only posted an OBP of .154.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Elba). They blew past Byron-Bergen 16-3 on Tuesday. With that victory, the Lancers brought their scoring average up to 7.3 runs per game.
Nicholas Scott spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brendan Porey, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with seven stolen bases, four runs, and five RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Bing Zuber, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
The win got Elba back to even at 3-3. As for Pembroke, their victory bumped their record up to 7-1.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Pembroke has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.9 hits per game. However, it's not like Elba struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.8 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Pembroke got the 'W' when the teams last played back in May of 2025 against Elba by a conclusive 13-3 score. Will the Dragons repeat their success, or do the Lancers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
