Dr. Phillips and Cypress Creek are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2018, but likely not for long. The Panthers will face off against the Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Dr. Phillips is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.
Dr. Phillips saw some tournament action on Tuesday. They blew past Wekiva 16-2. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won three in a row.

Alexandra Dougherty was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Dr. Phillips got a massive performance out of Madison Collazo, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most stolen bases Collazo has posted since back in February. Reagan Wimberly was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Dr. Phillips always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wekiva only posted an OBP of .276.
Meanwhile, Cypress Creek came up short against West Orange on Wednesday, falling 18-3.
Cypress Creek saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sofia Lopez, who went 2-for-3 with one run. Mya Fernandez also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Dr. Phillips' record is now 6-9. As for Cypress Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 4-9.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Dr. Phillips hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .319. However, it's not like Cypress Creek struggles in that department as they've averaged .327. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Dr. Phillips got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in February against Cypress Creek by a conclusive 20-9 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
