Softball Recap: Franklin Takes a Loss

If Franklin was feeling good fresh off their 17-0 takedown of Tournament Opponent on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Franklin Cougars fell 11-8 to the Eastwood Troopers on Friday. The Cougars were not able to make up for their defeat to the Troopers from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Maria Lopez made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Layla Heredia, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Franklin has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9-1 record this season. The win was the sixth in a row for Eastwood, bringing their record for this year to 15-1-1.

Looking ahead, Franklin will face off against Bel Air at 10:40 a.m. on Saturday. Bel Air will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Franklin surely won't give up without a fight. As for Eastwood, they have already played their next game, a 7-4 win against Canutillo on the 28th.
