It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Fernley ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the Elko Indians 10-9. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-1 on Friday.

The team relied heavily on Layne Minoletti, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. Alex Welsh was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Fernley is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-14-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Elko, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-15.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Indians beat Fernley by a score of 8-0 later that day.
