Softball Recap: Northridge Comes Up Short

Lakewood hit Northridge with a eight-run fifth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Vikings came up short against the Lancers, falling 12-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lancers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-0 back in April.

Northridge saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ellie Reese, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.

Northridge has also been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-15 record this season. As for Lakewood, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 15-9 record.

Looking ahead, Northridge will head out on the road to square off against Fairbanks at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lakewood, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Utica at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Lancers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Redskins have averaged an impressive 8.9 runs per game this season.
